Strange things breed in the corners of the internet. For whatever reason two reoccuring spawns appear in World of Warcraft global chats. The amazing abilities of Chuck Norris and what movies Murlocks are starring in.

They either drive you crazy or makes you laugh. Like an earthquake building up pressure, players regularly engage in one or the other and sometimes both. Both the annoyed and the enthusiastic responses feed these omnivorous creatures.

Chuck Norris Facts

For those who don’t know who Chuck Norris is, you should or he will kick your ass. Around the year 2005 previously unknown facts began to surface. While some of these may seem to mere mortals to be impossible, given our experience with the World of Warcraft we now know that such feats are possible.

• Chuck Noris puts the “laughter” in “manslaughter”.
• Chuck Norris can speak braille.
• Superman owns a pair of Chuck Norris pajamas.
• We all know the magic word is please. As in the sentence, “Please don’t kill me.” Too bad Chuck Norris doesn’t believe in magic.
• Switzerland isn’t really neutral. They just haven’t figured out what side Chuck Norris is on yet.

His feats are iconic and represent a way to brag without getting laughed at yourself. Many people play the game to accomplish something. And when it’s too much trouble arguing why you are better, it’s easier to explain how much better Chuck Norris is than everyone else. Also, some of them are funny.

Murlock Movies

Their omnipresent gurgerling sounds have made this creature one of the harbingers of humor. Whether it’s funny throaty noises or mislaid plans of watery dominance this creature is hated and mimiced like no other. Chat channels routinely come to life with murloc movie names or even television shows. Some recent favorites are of course [any movie you can think of with a noun replace with murloc], [another movie with yet another noun replaced with murloc], and of course my favorite [every movie you hated with the word murloc put in it].

On the surface this appears to be for no other reason than annoyance or fun. But what it might be is a shared memory game. Everyone enjoys sharing what their favorite or most hated movie is. This is an easy way to yell out a movie or television show. It’s all the more fun because a watery bipedal amphibian in the lead role. Of course, some people just do this to spam global channels.

Next time you see some implausible feat or a watery movie remake, remember that someday Hollywood will make the movie we are all waiting to see. Chuck Norris versus the Murlocs.
