How to be a Loot Ninja

Loot Ninja
So you want to be a Loot Ninja? It is an historic and enriching profession. But sadly it is full of amateurs making your job extremely difficult. Do not make the choice lightly, those amateurs and how to be ninja guides have so exposed us that the title of ninja is a death wish. You will be ignored, guild kicked, and booted when your real profession becomes known. If you are still not intimidated, read on. Yes, read on.

The key to being a loot ninja is never be caught. If you are caught, then deny everything. Yell that no one saw you, no one can prove it, then vanish! You are a master of stealth, misdirection, and effectiveness. Nothing can deny you their loot .. except fame.

What should you do and not do?

The most important rule is to not loot everything in sight. This is the tactic of a low level ninja. Remember that fame is your enemy. Once you hit level 70 word can spread quickly among the elite and your career will be short. Your name will spread like wildfire across the land from channels to guilds making it impossible to find more victims. The Master Ninja works in more subtle ways. Let’s take a look at some essential ninja tactics.

The Accidental Need

In many groups people don’t need the best loot. They will often pass and discuss who should get it, or greed to roll on it. This is when they are weak and you can strike. It is when you can accidentally Need the item. Immediately after you win the item apologize for clicking need when you meant to click greed or pass. If the group seems to doubt you then offer some small token of remorse. A couple gold pieces can often distract them. Keep apologizing, blame a new loot mod, lag, or a misclick. Anything that keeps them guessing. You can only use this power once per run until they see through it, so use it wisely. Wait until there is an item that is highly valuable.

Master Looter

Strive to be the Master Looter. If you are a party leader quickly assign it to yourself. If someone asks why misdirect. Say you are trying to prevent possible loot ninjas. Handle the loot normally until the item you want comes up. And then accidently give it to yourself. This circumvents those parties which use Need to role on items. And if you are party leader it is also means you are immune from being kicked from the party.

Node Stealing

You can ninja nodes with less discretion when you are soloing. An excellent tactic is to wait until someone starts to fight the creatures around a herb, mine, chest, or even fishing pool then dash in and steal it. If questioned, claim that you were there first. You can also claim they tried to ninja it from you while you were stealthed or invisible.

Upgrades

Everything you can claim as an upgrade you should. If the party looks gullible, you can even claim upgrades for your alts or sick friend who only has months hours to live. Even if you can’t use the items you can make money off them. Shard or vendor soulbound items for gold. Bind on Equip items can be sold on the Auction House. But be careful about arousing suspicion in your party. If they seem they might catch on, reserve your upgrades for Bind on Equip items since these will make the most money. Also wait before selling items on the Auction House. Many ninja have been caught only minutes after a run, with their stolen items on the market. Master Ninjas have a secret identity an alternate, for selling stolen goods.

Lag Smoke

Feigning lag or connection trouble makes an excellent smoke screen. Sometimes you may have to resort to this if an accidental need goes bad or suspicions get too high. Another excellent situation is if you are an enchanter and sharding loot for the group. Just before the instance run is done or right after the last loot, you can feign connection trouble and logout. This will leave you with all the shards from the instance.

Shadowing

The best way to get new loot is to shadow others. Get yourself invited to powerful guilds or instance runs with over geared people. Most of the loot that is found nobody will want. Most groups won’t want to throw it away if someone in the group can use it. Misdirect by apologizing for all the loot you are getting, while cleaning out the place. When you begin to catch up in loot with these more advanced groups, it’s time to move on. Don’t wait around to long or you may find yourself helping them out or worse, helping another ninja. Guild hop and find another more advanced group you can join. If they ask why you left, distract them by letting them know that their pace through the content was too slow for you.

Vanish!

Even the best ninja’s can make mistakes. Or even worse they can be exposed by other ninjas or their secrets revealed by online how to guides. If this happens you may have to use Vanish. By transferring servers or renaming your character you can cover all traces of your former life and begin with a fresh start. This is a method of last resort since it costs real money, so make sure to loot any guild banks you have access to before you do it.

Remember stealth and misdirection for great effectiveness. The secrets of the master ninja have been passed down for centuries. Do not let the those few secrets that remain fall into the indignant hands of the public. Forewarned they will counter them with watchfulness and vigilance, destroying our way of life. Be wary young ninja, be wary.
